ECD Facilities Registration
The registration process for early childhood development centres is complex and costly, particularly when it comes to achieving compliance with municipal by-laws. For many centres, it acts as a barrier to accessing the state of subsidy for early learning programs.
We aim to create sustainable, safe and caring preschools with the potential to grow. MM Foundation provides on-site support, mentoring, guidance, and infrastructure support to formal and informal preschools. The focus of this support is to help these schools successfully register with the Department of Basic Education by complying with minimum norms and standard. In the North West Province, we have 2748 ECD facilities and only 870 are formally registered. Registration also enables an ECD centre to legally operate within the confines of the Child Care Act and ensures legal safety requirements for childcare are met. This programme includes capacity building through workshops, on-site implementation, and ongoing site visits to assist those who are in the impoverished areas.
