The foundation has launched food security programme and food donation to families with children whose health have been compromised by poverty directed at improving nutrition, early learning and providing parent/caregiver support. Addressing food insecurity is that young children bear the brunt and child malnutrition is often the forgotten consequence of inaction. The programme aims to ensure access to food through sustainable farming at these centres, improving the quality of life for the children and the communities they serve. Establishing and capacitating Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres as hubs for nutrition could reduce malnutrition and allow children to flourish. Poor nutrition has a substantial negative impact on a child’s brain development before the age of five, depriving them of the ability to reach their full potential, thrive in school, and contribute to society. The urgency of capacitating ECD centres is the nasty evils of poverty, hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition that continue to be on the rise within our country are to be addressed. Along with the formation of purpose-driven public and private partnerships, community-based ECD centres might be the answer to this multifaceted problem.
