Food and Nutrition Security Program

Poor nutrition has a significant negative impact on a child’s brain development, limiting their ability to reach their full potential in school and hindering their contribution to society. To address this, MM ECD Academy will establish a self-sustainable nutrition program as part of our food and nutrition security initiative, focusing on the following key areas:

  • Establish a Subsistence Vegetable Garden and Poultry Farm: These will supply nutritious food to the children at the centre, as well as to elderly community members and those with disabilities.
  • Integrate Agriculture into the Early Learning Curriculum: By incorporating vegetable cultivation and agricultural practices into the curriculum, we aim to teach children about healthy eating and the importance of nutrition from an early age.
  • Partner with Community Workers: We will collaborate with community workers to identify young children and families at the ward level who are facing food insecurity and poor nutritional outcomes.

In addition, the program will include educational workshops and sustainable farming training for educators, parents, and community members. This training will not only help maintain the food gardens but also ensure sustainable food production. It will also provide opportunities for skills development, empowering families and community members to improve their food security.

Through this initiative, educators and parents will be equipped with the knowledge to guide children in making healthier choices, fostering a culture of sustainability and responsibility towards the environment.
